Ateneo Management Engineering Association (MEA) PriME Case Competition

Last Saturday, November 22, 2014, Alonzo Mason Co, Paul Jansen Co, Timothy Sitosta, Tiffanny Uy, and Ezekiel Young of Grade 10 – Solomon, ranked first among seven schools in the first ever PriME case competition hosted by the Management Engineering Association of the Ateneo De Manila University. Trailing second was Xavier School with Ateneo High School in third place.
The competition had two phases; the written part and the presentation. Last October 25, 2014, our JHS team competed in the written stage where they had to use linear programming to solve a given problem.  After emerging as one of the top ten teams, they went on to compete in the second phase of the competition.  During the second phase, they were required to create a solution to a real life problem of efficiencies involving relief good operations.  Our JHS Team emerged as the one with the Best Improvement Plan and  Creative Presentation.

Overall, the PriME has given the participants a foretaste of what Management Engineering would be like.  As Mason Co, who garnered the best presenter award,  described it perfectly, “Optimization is the key.”
To God be the Glory!
