JCA BASKETBALL BOYS TEAM SOARS FOR THE WIN

The Jubilee Christian Academy Boys Basketball Team captured its first championship title this year after beating  Holy Rosary College in the League of Southern Manila Schools (LSMS) Basketball Event Finals last January 17, 2015 in an intense overtime game with the final score of 62-58.

Holy Rosary College led the first part of the game, but the JCA team did not lose hope. Instead, they slowly fought their way back until they finally took the lead. At the end of the 4^th quarter, JCA had a lead of 2 points, but HRC prolonged their victory by converting a basket and forcing an unwanted overtime.

Different from the typical overtime, LSMS gives the crown to the team that will earn the first 5 points.  In the crucial moments in the overtime, the basketball team showed more heart. When the JCA team only needed 2 more points to finally end the intense battle, team work became a crucial factor as Perry Go denied the opponent’s attempt to score.  He then gave the ball to Miko Cheng who was fouled amidst a fast break and was rewarded with a pair of free-throws, which dramatically ended the game in favor of JCA.

Showing an exceptional performance throughout the whole even, Team Captain Paolo Lim of Grade 10-Service and Co-captain Miko Cheng of Grade 10-Purity were hailed as part of the Mythical 5 and Miko Cheng was named as the Most Valuable Player of the league.
