PS Teachers Attend Akadasia Training

On October 26-30, 2020, the Preschool teachers along with other teachers in JCA attended the online course of Akadasia on Designing Engaging Online Learning Experiences 101 (DEOLE 101) created by the Course Director, Mrs. Suzanne Kamal.

The training has four modules designed to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills to confidently create interactive and well-designed online e-learning packages which can be deployed across learning management platforms. The modules are:

Module 1 : Evidence-based Principles for Effective E-Learning Design

Module 2: Promoting Interaction in an Online Environment

Module 3: How to Assess Learner’s Understanding and Skills Online

Module 4: Exploration of Tools to Create an Online Learning Environment

The teachers explored various course design frameworks and suitable tools to use at various stages of teaching.  They were also asked to design courses that provide opportunities to interact online, with content, peers and instructors, and the  on challenges and opportunities around assessing learners online through a variety of means.

Everyday, the training began with devotion by assigned  JCA personnel and a plenary session led by Mr. Roy Platon, the co-founder and interim CTO of Akadasia and co-facilitator of the course. Afterwards, the teachers work on their modules during the Individual Self-directed Learning. Like the students in the online classes, the teachers went through different materials posted in the Google Classroom. They also answered assessments and submitted outputs. Towards the end of the day, there were “doubt-clearing sessions” to give opportunities for teachers to ask questions. Each day ended with a small group reflection session.
